Burnout

You may be exhausted, on edge, or numb, and still expected to keep going.

You may be the person others rely on: the provider, parent, partner, caregiver, or the one who keeps things moving. You handle what needs to be handled and rarely let anyone see when you're overwhelmed.

From the outside, you may seem fine. Privately, you may feel exhausted, anxious, irritable, flat, or unsure how much longer you can keep carrying it all alone.

Therapy can be a confidential place to slow down, understand what the stress is costing you, and find a more sustainable way forward.

Man Working At Desk
You do not have to wait for everything to fall apart.

Many men come to therapy because the strategies that once got them through, like staying busy, pushing through, or solving everything alone, have stopped working.

Staying busy may have helped you avoid difficult feelings. Pushing through may have gotten you through demanding seasons. Solving problems may have earned you trust at work and at home.

But over time, constant responsibility leaves little room to rest, process what is happening, or notice your own needs. The result can look like burnout, depression, emotional shutdown, relationship distance, or chronic stress, and a sense that you're getting through life without actually feeling it.

You may notice:

  • Feeling emotionally flat, numb, or disconnected

  • Loss of motivation or enjoyment

  • Irritability, impatience, or feeling on edge

  • Anxiety that shows up as overthinking, overworking, or needing control

  • Trouble sleeping, resting, or being present

  • Difficulty turning off work or relaxing

  • Constant pressure to perform or provide

  • Pulling away from your partner, family, or friends

  • Feeling that no one understands how much you are carrying

  • A sense that asking for help would create one more thing to manage

Pressure is not always only internal.

For many men, especially Black men and men of color, burnout is not simply about poor boundaries or taking on too much.

It may also involve being closely watched, expected to overperform, underestimated, asked to represent an entire community, or navigating workplace politics and bias while trying to protect your peace. It may involve family expectations, financial responsibility, caregiving, leadership, or the belief that you cannot afford to make a mistake.

Therapy can be a place to speak openly about those realities without having to minimize, translate, or explain them away.

Direct, practical, and built around your goals.

Therapy does not require you to arrive with the perfect language for what is wrong. You do not have to perform vulnerability or talk about everything at once.

We can start with what feels most urgent: exhaustion, low mood, anxiety, relationship strain, frustration, or the sense that something needs to change. Together, we will look beneath the surface, understand the patterns affecting you, and develop practical next steps.

The goal is not to make you less capable. It is to help you carry your life in a way that does not require you to disappear inside it.
