How to Get Started

Taking the first step should be straightforward. Here is what to expect from our initial contact to your first session:

Step 1: Schedule Your Free 15-Minute Consultation

We will briefly discuss what is bringing you in, answer questions about my approach, and explore whether working together feels like a good fit. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Step 2: Streamlined Onboarding

Once we decide to move forward, you will receive a secure digital welcome packet to complete before our first session, along with instructions for online sessions or directions to my Walnut Creek office.

Step 3: First Session & Action Plan

In our first 50-minute session, we will discuss your concerns, relevant history, and what you hope will change. Together, we will identify initial priorities and discuss a session schedule that fits your clinical needs.

The length of therapy varies based on your concerns, goals, and circumstances. We will check in regularly about your progress and adjust our work as needed.

Private Pay & Out-of-Network

Operating via private pay allows us to make treatment decisions collaboratively without seeking insurance authorization.

  • Privacy: When you pay privately and do not submit claims, I do not bill your insurer for those sessions. Confidentiality remains subject to applicable legal and ethical limits.

  • Clinical decisions: Assessment, diagnosis when appropriate, and treatment planning are based on your clinical needs rather than insurance reimbursement requirements.

  • Collaborative care: We discuss session frequency, treatment goals, and the length of care together.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement (Superbills)

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement for therapy sessions. Upon request, I can provide a superbill to submit to your insurer. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan and are not guaranteed. A superbill generally includes a diagnosis and service details, so check your benefits and submission requirements before relying on reimbursement.

Note on Current In-Network Coverage: I am currently transitioning toward an out-of-network and private-pay practice. If you have questions regarding existing in-network benefits, active panels, or using out-of-network reimbursement (Superbills), please feel free to bring them up during your initial consultation.
